Filming has just begun on He Loves Me starring Antonio Banderas, Deborah Ann Woll, Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Annette Bening, Steve Coogan, Elliot Gould, and Chris Messina, according to Fox Searchlight and Bona Fide Productions. Little Miss Sunshine filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are directing, Zoe Kazan wrote the script, and Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa are producing. He Loves Me is Kazan's first screenplay.
He Loves Me Not - The Story: "Calvin (Dano) is a young novelist who achieved phenomenal success early in his career but is now struggling with his writing - as well as his romantic life. Finally, he makes a breakthrough and creates a character named Ruby who inspires him. When Calvin finds Ruby (Kazan), in the flesh, sitting on his couch about a week later, he is completely flabbergasted that his words have turned into a living, breathing person."
According to the press release announcing the start of filming, Bening will play Dano's mother, a character described as "an artist who's curious about Calvin's new girlfriend, but worried about how much he hates her second husband, an eccentric hippie named Mort played by Antonio Banderas." Gould is Calvin's psychiatrist, Dr. Rosenthal, and Messina is set to play Calvin's older brother, Harry. Coogan plays Langdon Tharp, "successful novelist and self proclaimed esteemed literary God."
True Blood scene-stealer Deborah Ann Woll (she plays baby vampire, Jessica) will play Calvin's ex-girlfriend, Lila.
